Oasis Outsourcing, one of the nation’s largest Professional Employer Organizations (PEO), hosted an informational session and luncheon on May 31 at Don Shula’s Hotel, honoring Miami Dolphins MVP Chris Chambers for his outstanding accomplishments as an athlete and his contributions to the community. During the event, Don Shula spoke to the audience about his experiences in life and as a coach, most notably for the Miami Dolphins. Former Dolphins player and radio personality Jim "Mad Dog" Mandich emceed the event, providing interesting insight and commentary. Shula coached Mandich in the Dolphin’s perfect season.
Don Shula, who has the best record of any coach in football history with 347 career wins, led the Miami Dolphins to the only perfect season in NFL history in 1972. Coach Shula was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame by unanimous vote in 1997, the first year of his eligibility. Chris Chambers has received 315 passes in his career, for 4,596 yards and 39 touchdowns. Chambers had a career year in 2005, with 82 receptions for 1,118 yards and 11 touchdowns.
"Don Shula is one of the most respected football coaches of our time," said Mark Perlberg, CEO of Oasis Outsourcing. "It was an honor to jointly recognize Chris Chambers and his achievements with Shula at the luncheon. Football fans and business executives alike truly enjoyed listening to his great insights on life and football."
Oasis presented Chris Chambers with a plaque and donation to CATCH84, Chambers’ charity, to continue the organization’s good work and vision. CATCH84, which stands for "Children Achieving Through Community Help," values the importance of shaping the lives of children during their formative years so that each child develops aspirations for the American dream through academic achievement, positive social skills development stimulating individual creativity and promoting team unity and attaining healthy lifestyles through health and wellness activities.
Through the organization, Chambers recently worked with The Boys Home in Toledo, Ohio, and Boys and Girls Club of Miami-Dade County. He also runs a free football camp in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio for 200 kids each June and hosted a group from the Orange Bowl Youth Football League this season.
