Leigh Anne Ciccarelli, General Manager Denver/Phoenix – Leadership Principles
The most natural and successful leaders I know take the time to understand and appreciate the uniqueness of the people that surround them. They understand there is no “one size fits all” to leading people. Instead, good leaders bring out the best in their team members by fostering what motivates them individually. Leaders listen and learn. They know that trust and respect is not to be “expected” but is earned.
Indeed, there is nothing more satisfying or inspiring to a leader than to motivate the individuals around you, to earn their respect, and to watch them succeed. When you build a strong team — when you know your team will go through walls for you and the company — you, in turn, feel you have succeeded. And this only makes you want to be a better leader for them going forward.
