Sexual harassment continues to be frequent topic of discussion in the media and in the workplace. Many states, including Delaware and New York, have recently passed harassment laws, and others, like Maryland and Colorado, are currently working to pass some form of legislation that requires companies to have policies and training programs in place.

As more and more states make updates to this area of the law, employers must be aware of the various details and ensure all necessary policies and training’s are put into place. Beyond complying with the law, companies should also play an active role to make their workplace more safe and inclusive for all employees. Employees need to feel comfortable about stepping forward when harassment occurs and systems should be in place that provide employees with multiple options for making a complaint without fear of retaliation.
